Advice Request Is the Realtek Card Reader driver software needed?

I have a laptop with SD /Memory card readers built-in. Is it necessary to have the related driver/software installed? What are the benefits and if I don't have an use for them, can I uninstall the software?

They are likely not to be the latest versions.
 
It is always recommended to update all drivers. I have both drivers installed and i don't have issues with it,considering i'm using card reader a lot.

U may need it if you use a SD card of a Digital Camera, if Phone is Undetected and to check if SD card is in good condition or not. So u may decide the next thing Admin!
 
(Assumption) Windows 8 can read standard SD cards without the software? Cheers.
