so ive read on numerous sites that the NSA and other 3 letter organisations can crack tor etc, but since reading these documents these have all been based on really old and outdated versions of tor,but how safe is it to browse and can anyone see your data like ISP, goverment inc police, nsa and everything else. cos most stuff ive read or watched seems to be what the media has portrayed and say they have cracked tor which i dnt believe is true otherwise people still wouldnt use it, the reason i think NSA hate tor is cos they cant monitor people which i think is illegal in itself. but most people use tor for three things

1. porn
2.torrents
3.hacking

1. can also stem into illegal activity to but i guess if your just looking at pics on rule34 etc i dnt think the NSA will want to track u they proilly dnt even care. imho i think the only people these 3 letter organisations watch are sex offenders like peadophile rings etc drug dealers like silk road and serious hackers and terrorists, i dnt think the police care that you look at hentai, anime or any other type of pornography other than stated above.

so in brief is tor safe? can your ISP/goverment agencies/police etc see what you browse like the data or is it just an encrypted mess that nobody can ever understand or decrypt

ISP provide your Internet, I am sure they are aware of your activities online. For example: if you have a bandwidth usage limit, you'll get notified when you reach or exceed it.

So why do you want to use TOR?

If u r using VPN or TOR then ur connection is encrypted & ISP can't see the encrypted data or the packets which ur system request but if ur VPN is cheap free VPN which offers no DNS leak protection or store log data, if they pressurized they can give information to cops. I dunno which VPN really provide no log feature. But remember ur ISP still knows where every packet of data is u sending but since it's encrypted they don't know what u r doing. Also use a portable browser in usb drive /disable flash & java & try to minimize addons/use incongnito mode.

Are you asking because you are using TOR or because you want to use it ?
I imagine nothing is 100% safe these days but yes TOR is safe however as @Koroke San stated above your ISP knows where the data is being sent.
If your downloading and seeding Torrents and using a large amount of Bandwidth your ISP is probably going to contact you.
I guess the best advice is
  1. Don't visit porn sites
  2. Limit downloading and seeding of torrents
  3. Don't hack anything because it is illegal

so tor isnt safe then and they can see whati browse and what i downlaod on tor, so basically its just another useless browser then best thing to do is to just get rid of browsing the internet entirely then they cant track me

I think @illumination suggested this a couple weeks ago. What are your plans now?

Have you considered at a paid VPN package?

If you're using Tor Browser and it's all working correctly then your ISP can't see what websites you're visiting.Tor Browser hides the identity of who you're connecting to (the webserver), so no issues there. Additionally, since Tor encrypts your traffic your ISP can't see your HTTP requests, so they can't see what websites you're trying to download. There's also the issue of stuff like DNS. If you try to resolve a URL using DNS in the clear (without using Tor) then that reveals what websites you intend to visit.

This post relates to your post so it has to be on topic.

But I thought you said the NSA doesn't spy on nor care about the normal person, so why would you try to limit them on what they know about you so far?

The NSA spies on everyone, they have physically hooked themselves into the backbones and cables. In fact that's really the only way they can do it. But they still don't "act" unless you happen to be flagged in their systems for one reason or another. They just store it all away. As for TOR, it's not them "cracking" TOR that is the problem, it's that they take over nodes and compromise them. TOR is nodes, so if you have thousands of them operated by LEA, which is exactly the case, then TOR loses its benefits. Unless you have very specific needs or interests, TOR is really only useful for blocking out 3rd party tracking. Even then, you can't use the big sites like Facebook with it because they won't let you.

I think that nothing is 100% safe agree with @exterminator20 , just follow his advice and stay safe.
NSA, Uncle Sam, China, Russia, they all have their methods of drawing information . not to mention that almost all electronic products are made in china ...
use a safe DNS provider and prevents rogues sites and pirated software... and stay away from TOR, not need it for anything

Ten years ago, I would have said go for TOR, but 10 years ago we didn't really need it yet. Data wasn't "king" just yet, and the governments of the world weren't yet hellbent on watching everything we do "just in case".

Better to not over-think all of this. They already have your Name, Address, Contact and Payment information on their systems. How else are you getting your Internet?

Tor is safe to use but they have reminders to avoid you for possible leaking of informations.

1) Don't use Flash player and other plugins because of leaking the real IP address even behind of anonymity connections.

2) Exit Nodes may also cause risks to track your IP especially if they caught you from doing criminal acts on such categories.

I should agree for others, ISP have no control and everything are track for your browsing; they should design for statistics reasons but if there's criminal act then those logs may use as evidence for you.

Tor started by being a anonymity software, now it is used for underground activity since you cant access some sites without it.
