Here's how I've set up my phone. I'm trying Malwarebytes Premium and so far I'm happy with it. AdGuard is also installed, and in my opinion, this app (along with YouTube Vanced) is a must-have on any Android phone. I also have F-Secure VPN, however, it's expiring in a few weeks and I don't think I'm going to renew it, not really using it.
The phone is not new, and most likely I'll change it this summer, however, for now this is it. : P
