About a month ago, I let my son download something for Minecraft without examining it first. Now, every time we open certain windows in Chrome (Amazon, YouTube, anything from Facebook that requires a new window or tab), we get a window that says "WARNING! Java is out of date!" When you close the warning window (without clicking OK), it opens a fake Java page (url starts with m3.zlvijp.com). It downloads a file called setup.exe (which Norton says is "safe"). I have tried many forums and tips (uninstalling all java related items; deleted suspicious extensions in Chrome and reset browser settings; I've run HitmanPro, run ADWCleaner, Norton scrubber). Sometimes it will be gone for an hour, but it always comes back.
