You can specify for User Access Control: "Always Notify - For App installs, Modify system & User settings", because you probably use sudo and it asks you for a password before installing etc.

Do you really use automatic updates or do you manually update the packages every week via sudo apt update & sudo apt upgrade?

Yes, obviously it asks root password before operations like setup. About updates yes only automatic.
