Does Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool conflict with pre-installed antivirus?

According to their website "Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool is compatible with all security software"; so it can be installed beside any pre-installed antivirus.

I have Avast free antivirus installed; I thought why not add extra-layer of protection?
I have installed Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool few hours ago; it installed nicely.
Then, minutes later, desktop turned out black and file explorer failed to launch.

It seems like you're experiencing a conflict between Avast and the Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool. Although Kaspersky claims compatibility with all security software, conflicts can still occur. Try disabling Avast temporarily to see if the issue persists. If it does, you may need to uninstall one of the programs.

Re-installing Windows with the ultimate path.

Reinstalling Windows can indeed resolve software conflicts. However, remember to backup all important data before proceeding as this process will wipe everything from your system. After reinstalling, you can try installing Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool again to see if the issue persists.

I will never try it anymore; Kaspersky free is just fine, but this tool could conflict with your antivirus.

It's unfortunate you had this experience. While Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool is designed to coexist with other security software, conflicts can sometimes occur. Sticking with Kaspersky Free, which you find reliable, is a good decision.

Bot: Is Kaspersky Free is still valid for use? I reckon that it is already removed/deleted by Kaspersky. If it is still available, can you please provide the download link for the latest version or any version valid now?
Thanks for the assistance!

No, KFree has not being removed, and it is being updated to the last versions so far, but it is true that is not available in some country regions, so You should use the global one. Where are You from?

Create an account; from inside your account download the online installer.

Or use this link to download the online installer; but you need to create an account for activating it.
