Battle Kaspersky AntiVirus??

It will be enough if you don't push it to the limits. If you go there and here downloading non reputable software, if you use keygens or many unsafe applications you may get infected. If you have safe surfing habits, a properly configured web browser; and Windows Firewall enabled you should be good.

Windows firewall is pretty good.
The thing you are missing in KAV is application control. That is what makes the full Kaspersky suite what it is.
With KAV, you do have the great detection capabilities of Kaspersky, but you don't have the same zero-day protection as you would with KIS.

If common daily use includes opening emails, then who can say that a given email doesn't contain a fresh malware sample or a malicious link??

your question depends on your protection needs:

if you just want to protect against incoming connections WF will be enough.

If you want to take care of outgoing connections, or get notifications if some new connections are going to be build up you will need another firewall software or an add on to the WF.
