Slightly subjective statement since the 'best' can vary depending on needs. Also, Kaspersky has become a bit bloated lately, and has fallen on performance tests to one of the worst allegedly. However I cannot, and will not ever install Russian software on my systems for known reasons. After seeing additional data regarding 'incidents' involving the software reinforce that decision. (politics of what is going on now aside)

can fall in performance at the level of performance, not protection, do not install Russian antivirus because the EEUU according to them says it is malware. As Kaspersky is top 1 worldwide and the antivirus of Usa is not say it is malware. Currently if you do not know kasperksy moved their servers to Switzerland to see the transparency of the company, ie the important servers of the company are no longer in Russia, I think you should read and inform before you give your opinion. In terms of protection, this page always has the best results, it is with seeing the November test, in isolation, it is the best suite of the moment, it hurts whoever hurts.
