I'm currently using an old Acer Aspire 5741 laptop with Windows 8 Release Preview 64-Bit with 2GB of RAM, i3 2nd Gen.

This laptop had Windows 7 before and around idle used 900MB and in use about 1.2GB. Having 2GB was enough.
Bottom line is all PC's are different but with Windows 8 there is certainly an improvement with how it handles RAM,
If I get the time I'll try Kaspersky and see if it gives me any slow down as I've seen many members claiming it's a heavy product. Been too long since I tried Kaspersky.
