Those rescue tools are more intended to fix when nasty things blocked at the boot and its not really important if bypass by threats caused lot's of other tools are available in order to fully clean the system.

I agree that this machine was probably not infected enough to absolutely require the work of a bootable anti-malware cd. I was hopping to run across some more serious threats such as ransomware and rogues in the pack to better demonstrate the benefits of bootable-antimalware disk, but sometimes you just have to work with what you have.
