Reminds me of Norton Security Scanner that often got bundled with Adobe Flash or the Google toolbar years back. Norton Security scanner how ever was more of an advertisement and pushed users into thinking they need Norton, It scanned, if it found threats, Had to install Norton.

Is this the same case for this scanner from Kaspersky?

Yes i agree with Mr Xidus, google pack promoted Norton Security Scanner a lot I hope kaspersky again does not force user to buy its products. I have kis2012 so i do not need this. Again mcaffee to has a similar app.

Hopefully it will be maintain as not nagware and since beta stage everything may change.

Can someone please tell me why this thing runs a process in the background?!
Every time i attach my external harddrive it shows up and starts what appears to be a full scan.

Kudos for noticing that .... A constantly running background process is very unprofessional and not need it for a on-demand scanner.. 5MB just wasted their...

@malbky when I've performed that scan I didn't had any real-time protection installed...so the warning was fair... I'll try to install one and perform a scan to see what it says.

Thats bad that it runs a service even after shutting it down. But its just a beta it may improve.
