That's what it says when I click on my wireless connection but there's no connection (based on trying to open IE and it saying "you're not connected to a network".

I deleted my connection according to those directions but when I tried to connect again it wasn't able ("the connection was unsuccessful, comp has limited connectivity").

I suppose you have no way to try wired connection?

I would like you to try this:
  • Press the
    WindowsKey.png
+ R on your keyboard at the same time. Type ncpa.cpl and click OK.
  • Now you need to select your Wireless adapter, right click and then Properties.
  • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties.
  • Make sure to set IP adress and DNS to obtain addresses automatically.
  • Let me know if this fixed your issue.

No, no way to do wired...followed your directions, no fix. IP address and DNS were already set to obtain automatically.

For some reason, my wireless adapter had "identifying..." as its status.

Let's try this:

FRST.gif
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif
This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
icon_exclaim.gif

icon_exclaim.gif
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.
icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Attached is the fixlog...still doing the same thing (not connected, saying Windows isn't genuine)...did I mention that after doing the fix it requires a restart but my system hasn't been able to restart normally? It does the shutdown screen than just goes black but the power light is still on and I have to hold down the power button to turn off. Does that make a difference in the fix?
