Windows 10 and Windows 11 have had their share of problems. According to the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), the operating system experienced 1394 security vulnerabilities in 2024. Microsoft quickly moves in to fix many of these security holes in the system, so it’s essential to stay up to date. Yet, Windows updates can bring their own problems. This guide shows what to do when an update does more harm than good.
Note: if a problem here is marked as “FIXED,” it means Microsoft has rolled out an update that fixes the problem, and the solution is simply to make sure your system is fully updated. If a problem is not yet “FIXED,” then either read that entry for workarounds to that specific problem or scroll down the page for advice on how to roll back updates.

I have updated my IoT Ent LTSC version (although not supposed to receive any feature updates) to 25H2 with enablement package; the same as 24H2, no added features, no extra bugs.

A neighbour told me a few days ago his lappy I check over from time to time was running slow esp. on shutdown & boot, after determining there was no malware I discovered it was having a problem downloading one of the September KB's - I downloaded it manually, then it was able to update the Net Framework & another update. Seems OK now, I may never find out why? I'll see how it goes on later this month on patch Tuesday 9th.

In my most extremely humble opinion having used windows since 3.11, & every version since, I have very few problems, if any lately & that has been the case for some time, a very long time actually, I image regularly, if there is an issue I can go back, that has not happened for a long time, my last install was probably over 4 years old, I decided to reinstall because of irremovable past installs (but could have carried on with no major problems) but it was time to start again.

Despite threads by well regarded members regarding breaking free from Windows I still feel with intelligence & tinkering Windows 11 is all things taken into account the best OS I have used including Linux - Sorry about that but its just my opinion :oops::oops:

Desktop operating systems are like any other program we choose; there is no better or worse option among the available choices. There are systems we like and others we dislike, and we try to find reasons to fully explain our personal opinions.
