Hi Everyone, yes it's very early!

What software, security software can you use to obtain multi-layered protection?

Tony.

Hey Tony,
Pretty much any "Internet Security" suite comes with multiple layers of protection (antivirus, web guard, firewall... etc..). Is any particular layer of protection that you are looking in a security product?

@Tony Cole some examples: CIS (if you into configuring down to its core) - HIPS and Sandbox; EAM (install and forget basically) Behaviour Blocker being the strenght; ESET AV/EIS (set HIPS to Smart Mode); KIS (KAV won't have the module you will be looking for) has the Application control; F-Secure with his DeepGuard technology (Behaviour Blocker)

Those are some basic ones. To note: EAV/EIS can be on full lock down mode once you have manually configured HIPS Rules by running Policy Based mode

Above are the considered Highest Protection.

On a medium protection in my opinion:
avast! with its modules + Hardened Mode on (not on by default if memory serves me right)
avg (behaviou blocker)
WSA (roll back feature)
Symantec (cloud based BB style)
McAfee SaaS (better technology than McAfee AV/Internet Security)
Other vendors

Hi Jack, thanks for the reply.

Not really, I was just reading a article about the importance of layered security and just wanted to know how do you implement this, and what software you can use. I already use Kaspersky Internet Security 2015, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Pro, HitmanPro.Alert and CryptoPrevent Pro, is that enough?

Here are several steps to ensure your security config:
1. Set UAC as always notify
2. Perform regular back up
3. Consider virtualization (sandboxie/shadow defender or testing new software with VMware/Virtualbox)

There are also the anti-executables/whitelisting softwares, this products can greatly increase the security if used well. Though with all of the security softwares OP has he might not need it.

Examples are:

VoodooShield (which is free)
SecureAplus (Which offers a 1 year trial) - Additionally it also possesses the ability to detect malware due its cloud-based Universal AV which combines many well-known antivirus engines. One can opt to also use it as your main antivirus product by installing its offline AV or to make it a companion AV by deciding to not install the Offline AV. Some actually prefer to use only its whitelisting feature and disable Universal AV.
EXE Radar Pro (Paid/30 day trial) - Though the free version might be out soon since they are close to its latest release.

More info on these products can be read on their respective threads here

Some might argue that there isn't a need to keep both since the paid version of HitmanPro Alert should essentially cover what Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit does.

Adding an anti-executable (AE) to any system greatly decreases the potential for persistent infection.

The best AEs are AppGuard, NoVirusThanks Exe Radar Pro and VooDooShield.

Currently, I am testing Comodo Internet Security with VooDooShield on one system and with NVT EXP on another.

I haven't gotten anything to bypass the AEs...

The most important thing is for the user to not fall into complacency; they have to pay attention to what is happening on their system... not always easy to do.

Actually program like Crystal Clear or Voodoshield can top already for multi layer protecrion cause it incorporates to retrieve all engines result so pretty clear if you want to overkill with another standard single engine ;)

Comodo Firewall is one already a full pledge combinatiom to fit any savvy users around.

Outpost is close behind if we talk about its protection alone, tho it has its own problems.

AEs are not my cup of tea, as it requires me to run at least one more process to have it on lockdown mode. For that Policy-Based Mode of ESET HIPS will be just fine. Anything not in rules gets denied, even modified windows processes, that I have been able to test, based on specific malware infections. Only down side is you have to configure it yourself but then again, if you want something right, you better do it yourself.

I agree...

If one uses Comodo at a high level, then they probably have the knowledge, experience and habits that makes them much less likely to get a persistent, serious infection.
