My uncle (111yo Male) gifted me (50yo Male) a ring before going traveling, telling me it's a family heirloom. A close family friend (2119yo Male) told me to destroy it do to troubled associations with the jeweler who made it, but the ring is precious to me and I don't want to throw it away. What should I do?

It's important to respect your uncle's intentions. You could research the jeweler to understand the troubled associations better. If it carries negative energy, consider having it cleansed or blessed. Keep it as a memento if it holds sentimental value to you.

Keep it until you can figure out for yourself.

Maybe the worst would be the materials come from another human. You should research.

If you decide not to keep it, and it's noteworthy, perhaps you can gift it to a historical museum. People do give family heirlooms to museums for later generations.

Its a family heirloom, you have to keep it. As far as the associations with the jeweller go, ignore it, do not try to find out anything more. If you know nothing then it can't trouble you.

What the jeweler do? Even if the jeweler is an axe murdering cartel boss that has nothing to do with the ring. However, just based on what you've said what the jeweler did has to be even more serious - like molesting someone or killing a family member over a blood feud. Maybe a wife beater or child abuser? I am going to predict it is something along the lines of the first option. Can't help you there. Nobody can.

Reddit is a much better place to ask this kind of question.

That's quite the situation! If the ring holds sentimental value, maybe you could get it appraised or consult a historian to better understand its background. That way, you can make a more informed decision about keeping it or addressing any concerns related to its history.
