Hey, I'm getting a MacBook and needed to know what are some good firewalls to use and antivirus programs for mac that are reliable? I know people don't think that it's necessary, but with worms like thunderstrike, I would beg to differ. Thanks.

Yea... I saw this one but it looked slightly sketchy. No reviews on youtube, nothing. I was almost tempted to use the built in one.

I was thinking about Kaspersky, if I end up buying something it might be that. My issue is I wonder who has the best signature database for new mac malware.

Mac is essentially another flavor of Linux but it's more locked etc. Personally I would rather go for Ubuntu than Mac.

If you are one of the Windows people and hate Linux than you are more likely to hate Mac due to its unix family roots. It's a natural state of human nature we as a humans dislike things which we are not used to this is why our parents use internet explorer rather than chrome/firefox.
The same goes for windows. As humans we would rather have everything easy to get without any bash knowledge, double click an exe without typing and command.
If you want some nice graphical interface I recommend go and ask on r/unixporn - the home for *NIX customization! some of the Linux flavors when customized right look majestically orgasmic.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, but please do not dictate what OP should or should not buy.
MacOS, Windows, Linux are all great operating systems, each have their own ecosystems and potential benefits over their competition.
- Use MacOS, Windows, Linux-distro, ChromeOS etc.
At this moment, no Antivirus has been installed, but I have tried free editions of Avast, Avira and Sophos. You can check if the Firewall is enabled via the System Preferences under Security & Privacy: macOS Sierra: Firewall pane of Security & Privacy System Preferences
