AV-Comparatives just published a report on MAC Security products.
The following products were tested:
Avast Free Antivirus for Mac 7.0,
Avira Free Mac Security 1.0
Escan Anti-Virus for Mac 5.5-5
ESET Cyber Security Pro 5.0
F-Secure Anti-virus for Mac
Kaspersky Security for Mac
ZeoBit MacKeeper 2012

AV-Comparatives used 477 Mac malware samples from 2011 and 2012,most of them belonging to the FlashBack and FakeAlert families.

Test Results:
Avast,Avira and ZeoBit - 100%
Kaspersky - 98,5%
ESET - 96,9%
F-Secure - 90,6%
eScan - 83,4%

I know someone who wastes a lot of money on Apple products, will try and get them to use Avast Free for Mac with DNT+ and a decent Ad-Blocker.

Even though they are hung up on knowing what's best.

Avira did really really well, but mind you this is a Mac they are testing on.
