Softpedia said:Since NVIDIA's new graphics products are now official, Maingear decided to put together a notebook to crush all others, figuratively speaking and, in some cases, literally too.
What we mean by that is that, should someone decide to bash the new machine against another mobile PC, the latter would probably end up worse for wear.
Of course, people aren't going to buy a PC just so they can smash it into things (unless it's a rugged one that just has to be tested as thoroughly as possible), but we digress, so we'll just get down to business.
Maingear has formally released the latest Titan 17 desktop replacement.
With hardware reliant on the Intel Core i7 2960X Extreme Edition central processing unit, the product easily makes short work of any workload thrown its way.
That's right, even though Titan 17 is, technically, a notebook, it uses this mighty 6-core desktop CPU (core clock of 3.3 GHz, 3.9 GHz in Turbo Boost mode).
The other major component is NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 675M discrete GPU (graphics processing unit), which can be supplied alone or in SLI, dual-chip mode.
"The newly updated MAINGEAR Titan 17 is the ultimate desktop replacement for anyone looking to get the most out of their entertainment or heavy graphics design work on the go." said Wallace Santos CEO and co-founder of MAINGEAR Computers.
"With the update to the graphics and offering a 3D display option, the Titan 17 is destined to be a non-stop entertainment notebook for high performance users on the go."
By update, the company means that Titan 17 is not exactly a new system, but an existing one that got better. Much better. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M is about 60% faster than the 660M previously available.
The rest of the spec sheet includes, among other things, up to 32 GB of Quad-Channel DDR3, three storage units (512 GB SSDs / 700 GB HDDs), a 17.3-inch Full HD display (3D optional) and more ports and plugs than most people can think of. The starting price is of $2,599 (1,950.32 Euro) and there is a limited free shipping offer, so act fast.
