RE: Malware Maniac Security Configuration

On third party updater you can try some alternative like Filehippo Updater or Secunia PSI but overall CNET TechTracker is fine.

For backup there are some free backup option around there. You can try Macrium Reflect it has a free version.

Any other extensions or add-ons on the other web browser, do they serve you a particular purpose?

No the other browsers don't serve a particular purpose I just have them there for a backup or if one can do what another can't. Although Safari doesn't serve a purpose. sssssooooo... I'm going to remove it.

your best change in my opinion was the switch from Anvisoft to Kingsoft.

Any particular reason for MSE?

Avast Free to Microsoft Security Essentials

IMHO Avast has more protection then MSE, why did you change?
How's MSE and KS getting along?

You have no features with MSE that you can get better with Avast. Sandbox, web protection, mind you if your testing then I see why. :)

I switched to MSE because the I was updating (after three weeks away from my computer) avast and it offered me a 20 day trial of Internet Security then I couldn't get the firewall. So I change what I am wanting installed in their installer and installer crashed at the end of install so I reboot. Then couldn't get some features so I try to go back to free. Then repeat what I did in the second sentence. Finally avast kept freezing my computer at start-up. Then went into Safemode to uninstall it from there (like version 6) then thought was thinking about MSE at the time.

But now I'm thinking of Panda Cloud AV.

Comodo has Sandbox, and Kingsoft has Web Defense (I think)

Made that mistake when I signed up for their beta that took three months.

They seem to be getting along no problems but I did exclude the main Kingsoft tray program from MSE as a precaution.

Like I said earlier I am going to give Panda a try.

I see. Never have done testing for other people apart from Trend.

MSE as I also remember has been updated to 2.0 ?

Version 4 they skipped version 3.

I can't get Panda to install I keep getting an error. Then tried AVG free, installer found part of Panda. I'm going to go back to MSE unless if someone knows how to fix it.

Update: I think I'll use MSE for a while and hope one of my registry cleaners can remove that part of Panda AVG was detecting.

Well, there is a uninstaller that Panda has, it can be found here.

sometimes just reinstall it and uninstall again, it fix the issue, or use a registry cleaner, and remove manually all panda's files/folders.
