malware or virus, can only start in safemode and nothing works

OK, some programs work, but not the ones I need.

Have teenage son, who downloaded all kinds of music and movie making software (without my permission). I have removed most of it. But some files I cannot remove because it says "windows installer" is missing or not turned on.

I cannot start defrag. I click Start > Accessories > Defrag and... nothing happens

I have a security message that Windows Security Center needs turned on - but it won't turn on.

I cannot start the computer in Normal Mode. Only Safe Mode.

there are other programs, like McAfee, that won't open the same as defrag.

I did run Microsoft Security Essentials and it found 2 threats. I removed them.

Would totally appreciate whatever help you can provide.

Before we start:
Please be aware that removing malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. STEP 1: Run a scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

• Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
• Press Scan button.
• It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
• The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.
