So here I go. ^^ This is my config.

I've started getting into the topic of computer security a year ago, when a nasty infection almost completely ruined my computer. I've been building this setup up ever since. I know I still need a lot to learn, but I believe I'm on the right path.

Currently, I need the most advice on backuping, UAC (should I leave it default) and PC optimalization software.

Any feedback/opinion is appreciated and welcomed! =)

==UPDATE LOG==
03.29.: Replaced BD Free with Internet Security, props to @Venhiem for the key! Windows Firewall replaced with Bitdefender Firewall.
04.26.: Replaced BIS with ESET NOD32.
04.27.: Replaced FileHippo Update Checker with Secunia PSI. Added WOT to Chrome.

Good config, thanks for sharing :)
and I think you will change your real-time option in the future
CCleaner is enough for everything with CCEnhancer ;)

Thank you very much!

Aaand what about that eye-rolling with my realtime protection? :p I originally got BD because avast! BSOD'd when I installed it on my than-new Windows 8 and it had really good reputation/test results. I haven't had any problems with it so far. :D

It looks abondoned or discontinued product from BD. Its scanning speed and real-time protection is weak IMO.
Maybe you can give Qihoo İS a try. It uses BD and its 2 other engine (1 is cloud,1 is behavior) and light on system.

Hmm, thanks for telling me that. I did notice the slow scanning time when testing a malware pack on my VM though.

To be honest, I didn't hear much about Qihoo, but I'll look it up!

Thanks again!

You don't need Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit as its integrated into MBAM 2.0 now. For optimization software I recommend Advanced SystemCare. There will be promotion for ASC Pro all through the year. If you like BD free then stay with it, otherwise you can try Avira Free.

Ah, yes, I know that, thanks for the heads-up. :)

I'll look up Advanced SystemCare.

Hi there. Nice setup you got. Since everyone is recommending Security Products, lemme say that ESET SMART SECURITY is very good. I have Avast! 2014 and Qihoo 360 IS alongwith ESET but Eset is very good.

And...along with? Don't they interfere with each other?

No, they live and co-exist peacefully :p. I also have MBAM v2 Premium. They don't interfere. I had installed AVG and BD but they interfered and I removed them.

I'm planning to, but won't it erase my data/programs?
In that case I'd need a really good backuper.
No it doesn't i upgraded mine all data was saved... Also see if you can upgrade to windows 8.1 with 'Windows Upgrade Assistant' it tells you if your computer is compatible..

1. Go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-assistant-download-online-faq
2. Click Download Windows Assistant (8.1)
