Microsoft has officially announced a web capture feature for Microsoft Edge browser, and users can try it right now as part of the latest Dev and Canary builds.

Just like its name suggests, the web capture tool allows users to just take a screenshot of a website, and this was a feature of the original Edge browser that was previously bundled with Windows 10.

“While web notes was a great feature, there was also room for improvement. Many of you reported using it for capturing quick screenshots to copy or share, while others loved the ability to mark-up full webpages with scrolling,” Microsoft explains.

“So, we designed the new screenshot feature, web capture, with this in mind and are excited to introduce the basic screen capture functionality to our Dev and Canary builds. In the near future, you can expect to see more functionalities added to web capture, like adding ink or highlights to your captures, capturing full webpages, and scrolling while marking them.”

It's sort of like Snipping Tool but limited to the browser interface, right? Opera has this feature already (you rock, Opera). I don't think I can disable the Opera screenshot maker. It's fine, it seems like a useful feature in certain cases. :)

Finally . Need Tab management features like OneTab or The Great Suspender next.
They are already working on that:

Taking screenshots of PDFs using Web Capture in Microsoft Edge

  1. Launch Edge browser
  2. Load a PDF document
  3. Click on the menu icon and select “Web capture

using Microsoft Edge web Capture on PDFs

Note: The option used to be grayed out before, now has been enabled for PDFs by Microsoft in Edge browser. You can also use shortcut Ctrl+Shift+S to mark portion on your screen and either copy or markup the capture.
  4. You can copy the screenshots to the clipboard and paste it into other image editing applications or you can preview and make changes to it and share like you usually do.
The best way of checking Edge’s Web Capture is available for PDFs to you or not is to open a Portable document format file in Edge and look for the Web Capture option in the ellipsis menu.
