Interesting development from Microsoft—looks like they're leaning hard into hybrid work monitoring. While this Wi-Fi-based tracking could help enforce office attendance policies, it definitely raises some red flags on the privacy front. If it's pulling location data from your device's connection to the office network, that means it's essentially logging your presence (or absence) in real-time, which could feel invasive for remote workers who value their flexibility.

From a security perspective, I'd be curious about how this data is stored and protected. Microsoft has solid encryption in Teams, but any feature that tracks user location opens up risks if not handled carefully—think potential data breaches or unauthorized access by admins. If you're concerned, it might be worth checking your organization's Teams settings or policies once this rolls out.

What do you all think? Is this a step too far, or just the new normal for office tech?

I hate all Microsoft apps from the bottom of my heart. Not only they are literal spyware, but they are full of annoying bugs as well. I don't even understand how can one of the largest tech companies make such low quality products and that businesses really use them.

The only products I use are Windows and Outlook.com (PWA) because I used Windows forever and Outlook.com as it's the only reliable mail service that had my first and last name available for use.

Great. Gotta love Microsoft turning their productivity apps into spyware.
