I notice my laptop has 3 or 4 MS Visual C++ installed... 2005 / 2008 / 2008 / 2010.

This main PC I'm using only has 1 older 2005 package, and thats it.

Now I can install any browser on the laptop, but NOT on this PC here. I cannot install Blink engine browsers and sometimes Webkit fails. Trident and Gecko work just fine.

Now for my question, is the reason it won't install, because I need a newer or specific version of Visual C++ code?

If I do need to install more... which or how many would recommend?

If a program requires VC++ it will download and install automatically, just like .NET framework.

As much as possible those packs are required by such software in order to run them so better kept them up, and installer on any program will notify you if there's missing a pre-requisite. ;)
