I'm using Canvas Defender on Firefox 57 & now 58.0a1 Nightly. It does not block fingerprinting, it creates noise, and switches fingerprint on a scheduled basis. I suggest anyone interested in this subject, read all the articles at Multilogin website. It's very informative.

Now, that said, there was a new study published this past spring about Cross Browser fingerprinting. There are tons of new ways this spying can be done, with little in the way of thwarting them. But, Firefox is adding more blocking in the name of privacy. Here is an article explaining Cross Browser fingerprinting.
Now sites can fingerprint you online even when you use multiple browsers
