I try to stay away from the seedy parts of the internet but when I do venture there, Live Linux distro's come in handy.

Do you make use of it's sandboxing feature? CCleaner is among my favorites, and is an important tool that's safe to use often. Fine configuration, you can add another on demand scanners like Hitman Pro or much multi engine based like Zemana AM for another second opinion.
