Between the time of waiting for your response and this one, I somehow managed to get rid of the darned malware. Here's what happened... 1. I did a system restore (I am fully aware you forbid this - my bad)... sorry. I suspected this malware must have come from one of the updates for some free software I run (specifically Any Video Converter) and it must have been bundled in one of those "accept this program" prompts - never will I accept anything ever again! 2. I then cleared all browsing history and cached stuff on all three browsers I use namely Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. 3. When I ran the last two they seemed to have been rid of the problem, but Google Chrome still had the darned LUCKY Bright pain in the a** malware. 4. I then uninstalled Chrome, restarted the machine and then reinstalled afterwards. That seems to have gotten rid of the darned thing. Thats what I did. So, I have not followed your instructions yet as it seems "clean" now. What is your expert advice? Should I still proceed with what you instruct above or do I "wait and see" what happens over the next few days?
