I'm a KASPERSKY user on my main desktop, but I have somewhat of a sweet spot for COMODO. At one time I had COMODO Internet Security on my laptop, however I had deleted it -- improperly, and there appears to be remnants of the old installation that I cannot delete. Anytime I try and delete the COMODO registry files, I get "error while deleting key". I tried using some user-created uninstall tools, but they couldn't find anything, nor delete anything. I even attempted to use COMODO's Program Manager tool to delete old remnants, but I still got errors. Is there something I'm missing? If you need me to answer any questions, I would be glad to do so.

Kind regards,

When you install Unlocker watch out for the optional toolbar!!

Download & Install Unlocker then everything tool.

Type Comodo in the Everything search window.
    • Click Edit.
    • Select All.
    • Right Click Selected Items.
    • Choose Unlocker.
    • Choose Delete
    • Then Unlock All.
    • You may see a prompt to reboot.
    • If so then please reboot, to continue removing the files.

Download from here, and install the Registrar Registry Manager program.

Once installed:

  • Select Advanced Registry Search.
  • Then Type Comodo into the search window.
  • Hit Enter.
  • Delete all registry items, found by the tool.
  • Reboot the computer, to complete the removal process.

Note: Make sure and run both programs as Administrator.

This solution deleted a lot of COMODO remnants, but the following gives me access denied in Registrar Registry Manager:

Reboot your machine, and then try again. Make sure and run as admin.

If that fails........

Right Click Each of those, select properties. Copy the full path of the registry items, then post them in your next reply.

There's the fixlog. Nothing got removed. Something is blocking these files from being removed, and it's really frustrating.

Attached the results. Denied, again. I'm sure all of these solutions would have worked for everyone else. Not me apparently.

OPSWAT Gears is not going to remove anything from your machine. I think he/she is talking about app remover.

But I doubt that will help, since FRST and OTL were unable to delete the keys. The off line regsitry editor in Kaspersky boot disk will delete any key, including those needed for operation of your computer, so be careful what you delete.

Safe mode is not going to help you either, since FRST and OTL were unable to delete the keys. You need to go outside windows, I provided the tool you need. :)
