The closer we get to September when Apple is expected to take the wraps off new iPhones, the more rumors make the rounds, and the latest tidbit of information could be bad news for a number of iFans.

MobileFun seem to indicate that Apple won’t give up on the Lightning port on the next-generation iPhone despite the previous reports indicating that this would otherwise be the case.
Early 2019 speculation claimed the 2019 iPhone lineup would be the first one to make the move from Lightning to USB-C, and other rumors that made the rounds since then corroborated the same idea, confirming that the switch is indeed happening.

But on the other hand, these new case renders from Olixar show that a Lightning port is still there on the next iPhones, so Apple’s proprietary connector could survive at least for one more year.
While you should obviously take everything with a healthy dose of skepticism at this point, especially given the contradictory reports making the headlines, it’s worth noting that accessory makers typically build new products like cases and screen protectors based on the information they obtain from people familiar with Apple’s plans.
This should help launch new accessories ahead of their rivals, and while some information proved to be inaccurate in the past, several scoops have been spot on.
Also, Olixar’s renders could very well be misinterpreted, as Lightning and USB-C are pretty similar in size, so it’s easy to mistake one for another, especially when high-resolution renders aren’t offered.
Meanwhile, these cases also confirm that the iPhone 11 Max will come with a triple-camera layout positioned in a square camera bump. The iPhone XR successor, which is likely the last LCD iPhone ever released, will also be upgraded to a dual-camera configuration.
