Hi everyone,

New to this site/forum. I've got a couple of issues I can't get a handle on, which is why I joined up here.

1. The "FBI ransomware" has popped up from time to time over the last 6 months or so, but only when I use chrome in incognito mode making it more of an annoyance than a real problem in everyday use. I don't know if this is related to the most recent issue, which is:

2. Within the last three days "NexTeCoup" has started messing with chrome. My efforts to be rid of it have failed, so I'm going to be starting a thread to try and get rid of that.

I do have some very basic (no pun intended) programming knowledge from years ago (BASIC and C+ back in high school and college respectively). These days I'm just a user mostly, with some limited exposure to matlab within the last few years.

I really want to get my machine clean because I just started messing around with more programming and having a clean machine to do that on seems like the best way to go about it.

If it appears in the browser, then it's just browlock, it's not malicious. Just close the window and you're safe.

Thank you guys very much! This place is pretty amazing. I'm already very thankful that this place exists.

That's great to hear that the FBI ransomware thing isn't a big deal. Since I started experiencing these other issues a few days ago I have been kicking myself for not trying harder to figure it out.
