Im pretty sure they are talking about other software companies (Kaspersky, ESET, Bitdefender... etc) when they say "Protects better and faster than the competition".

What speed test are you talking about btw? Im not seeing any.
in the comparison chart there is "1" on top

1 Norton Performance: For more detailed information about Norton performance tests, please see:

AV-TEST, “Innovation Award for Norton by Symantec,” March 2015.

AV-TEST, “Product Review and Certification Report,” May-June 2015.

I remember the time when Norton detected like 2 of 350 Trojans :D Okay okay enough.
same idea here. I believe norton has a very poor ondemand scanner based on their offline signature. sometimes, I have to work without the internet for a week so norton would not be able to protect my pc fully. someone said norton insight (or something like that) can work without internet, yes I agree but I think it only works if we execute a file, not blocking an already running file.
That's how I got infected last time with norton 2014 as I plugged my USB in and the virus was executed (no internet condition). I ran a fully scan with norton and of course nothing was detected. the pc was messed up and painfully slow. I switched to avast and everything was solved
