Google has pushed a security update for its Chrome browser, addressing a large number of high-risk vulnerabilities, many of which were rewarded through the Chromium bug bounty program.

The newly released Chrome 9.0.597.107 version fixes a total of nineteen security issues. Sixteen of them have a high severity rating and three a medium one.

This is not helped by the fact they seem to think that knocking out version after version is the new craze as opposed to big updates which are secure and stable.

The one thing I don't want browsers to do is what Microsoft does: wait for a certain date ("Patch Tuesday" - second Tuesday of the month) to fix already known exploitable bugs, even when a PoC (proof of concept - code demonstrating how the bug can be exploited) is publicly available.

Actually, I kind of like what they do. Like bogdan said, if there is a problem, fix it, test it, release it. If they are able to swiftly update Chome, good! That way, problems don't have much time to "fester," like what sometimes happens in the Comodo forums.
