At least put UAC at default, i dont think your machine is so weak that it can't handle the dim feature.

I don't think so too . But what is its purpose exactly?

In fact , "do not dim the desktop" is same as "Default" but for machines with weak graphic capabilities.

It gets your immediate attention rather than looking like just another dialog box.

Also, impossible to fake with a browser, I imagine.

Since keeping software up to date is first line of defense, you may want to use a software updater/version-checker.

I like SUMo and DUMo (free) and PatchMyPC (free, portable).

I don't like Secunia PSI (didn't work on 2/3 machines for me).

Add HTTPS Everywhere, Disconnect.

I just added Disconnect and Chrome flagged a conflict between uBlock Origin and Disconnect. I do have more lists enabled in uBO than the default.

A website can create dialogs and pop-up windows to look like a program's window or a Windows prompt. They cannot, however, dim the entire desktop, AFAIK.
