The gist is that WHATEVER YOU SAY CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU (esp. in politically correct times, such as now), whether you posted it on the interweb-net, or said it in person. When you mess up, they will have a ton of online data to make sure of a conviction, no matter how unrelated said conviction is to what you posted online.
And as Illumination pointed out; the military is here to protect, and the government HAS to be very close with them. As such, there is no "right" answer when it comes to spying in these wicked times.
