I only use my Galaxy for phone and very occasional surfing so my setup is bare bones. Luckily I have Pie so I have Cloudfare DNS over HTTPS without using their 1.1.1.1 app. Seems to be working as intended.

I also use the Private DNS setting in Android 9. But I'm using Google Public DNS on the moment (dns.google).

I just enabled it, but I don't use any services except Play Store very rarely.

You may use Adguard DNS as the DoH instead. A lot of ads and tracker would be blocked at DNS level then. Also there's NextDNS for which you'll have to add filter list first like your adblocker then can use that anywhere. I'm using NextDNS on my Android 9 device.

Replaced Cloudfare DNS over HTTPS with Adguard DNS over TLS.

Disabled Play Protect because Bitdefender is better.

Why disable Play Protect?
Is it not needed for Google to remove malicious apps reported to them?

I actually agree with both @Gandalf_The_Grey ( cute santa hat ) and @venustus about keeping Play Protect enabled.

When I done tests on my own phone it actually works as a layer.

When I downloaded stuff from google play store, play protect told me it was safe and bitdefender free afterwards told me the same when it was installed. I also keep both on.
