One step forward and then another one backwards.

You may recall that in the last few weeks there was a lot of buzz surrounding the Ask Toolbar which is installed along with Oracle’s Java software if you miss the opt out button.

The buzz related to the fact Microsoft had classified the toolbar as malware, specifically the versions of the toolbar that had search protect code in them that kept users from modifying the search defaults, and this allowed their Windows Defender Anti-Malware program to remove the toolbar as an unwanted program.

Can't say I'm surprised. Java is a free programme and they have to make ends meet somehow, which would you prefer, Java having these ads that you CAN OPT OUT OF, or Java turning into a paid service where they would charge for installing Java as a software?

As long as they give users the options to opt out of the crapware and browser hijackers that they include I think it's perfectly fine that they are doing this.

Of course they also have to give users the choice to swap back to their original homepage should they choose to do so. As long as it gives the freedom to the users I say it's perfectly fine.

Well just ignore Java, their very 'small' generation of money is produce on that thing because they have many implemented plans to have large revenues; a matter of contract so as long you can opt-out then its not a problem already.

Seems like they tried to do something good but have basically have done nothing.
