So I did everything in the CC Cleaner and Malwarebytes post with the exception of the %temp% thing, as I was unsure as to whether that meant deleting *everything* in the Temp folder. For the Malwarebyte Scan, there were only 3 PUPs: ______________________________________________________________________________________
www.malwarebytes.org Scan Date: 2016/01/12 Scan Time: 12:06 Logfile: Administrator: Yes Version: 2.2.0.1024 Malware Database: v2016.01.12.05 Rootkit Database: v2016.01.09.01 License: Trial Malware Protection: Enabled Malicious Website Protection: Enabled Self-protection: Disabled OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 CPU: x64 File System: NTFS User: SMJ Scan Type: Threat Scan Result: Completed Objects Scanned: 439323 Time Elapsed: 5 hr, 18 min, 19 sec Memory: Enabled Startup: Enabled Filesystem: Enabled Archives: Enabled Rootkits: Disabled Heuristics: Enabled PUP: Warn PUM: Warn Processes: 0 (No malicious items detected) Modules: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Values: 0 (No malicious items detected) Registry Data: 0 (No malicious items detected) Folders: 0 (No malicious items detected) Files: 3 PUP.Optional.OpenCandy, C:\Users\SMJ\AppData\Local\Temp\HYD8640.tmp.1452398725\HTA\install.1452398725.zip, Quarantined, [824337018a0fb3839dd8ac7ba55d53ad], PUP.Optional.OpenCandy, C:\Users\SMJ\AppData\Local\Temp\HYD8640.tmp.1452398725\HTA\3rdparty\OCComSDK.dll, Quarantined, [daeb81b74f4ab482d4a1e54262a06c94], PUP.Optional.OpenCandy, C:\Users\SMJ\AppData\Local\Temp\HYD8640.tmp.1452398725\HTA\3rdparty\OCSetupHlp.dll, Quarantined, [c10466d23663d264d393f4ce659f728e], Physical Sectors: 0 (No malicious items detected) (end)
__________________________________________________________________________ The issues remain. Firefox is slightly faster now, but nowhere near how it was when everything was normal. Additionally, on Monday, the laptop unexpectedly randomly shut down (still unsure as to why thins happens- I thought I had figured it out last year, but guess not). When I brought it back up, there C: drive inconsistency message came up again. I cancelled it- and then there was a (new) message of the F: drive being inconsistent. This occurred after I had done all steps and restarted as well. The only thing that went awry from the CC was that certain patch files for a game that I play were gone. So I just did a full uninstall for that game and reinstalled it right now (within the last 20 mins). Scratch that about FF being a little better; it's not.
