I have tried to configure my Outlook email client 2016 to work with IMAP GMAIL automatically, and manually using an App Password, and still the client fails to login. Any one having similar problems trying to set up Outlook to work with Gmail via IMAP? If not, what worked? Thanks.
Update: After looking for all types of solutions on the web, I came across one that actually worked on the first try in Outlook 2016. Interestingly, it refers to a setting one might least think about: How to fix 'Sorry, we could not sign you in to Google - IMAP' in Outlook for Office 365
I hope this can help others as frustrated as I was about trying to use IMAP Gmail in Outlook 2016. Btw, in case your regular Gmail password does not work, try using an app password generated by Google.
