Coinciding with the launch of consumer products from Panda Security 2015, Panda Cloud Antivirus today FREE Edition is the new Panda Antivirus Free, joining the large family of consumer products from Panda Security.
Why we changed the name of the product?
Panda Cloud Antivirus was born in 2009, the first free cloud-based antivirus. At that time was an innovative approach that broke with the traditional model based on local firms, and allowed us to offer a solution with a high detection rate and a minimum impact on PC performance.
Time has proved us right, and in recent years we have seen the security industry has been forced to adapt their solutions and technologies evolve to rely on the cloud. Today, virtually all security solutions used in varying degrees, to cloud-based threat detection technologies.
Throughout these five years the product has evolved steadily, increasing its power against the new malware and protecting millions of computers worldwide. The offline cache active malware signatures, heuristics technologies, protection behavior, vaccination of USB drives or anti-exploit technology are some of the improvements that have been introduced and improved in each version for maximum protection even when the PC is not connected to the Internet.
This evolution is what has allowed us to build the XMT engine, a technology that Panda has reached the maximum results in the latest comparative independent laboratories.
Starting today, this engine XMT will be shared by all consumer products from Panda Security. Free Antivirus Panda joins Panda Antivirus Pro, Panda Internet Security, Panda Global Protection, Panda Gold Panda Protection and Mobile Security, including free antivirus solution from Panda Security: Panda Antivirus Free.

All products in the range consumer Panda Security 2015 version share the same 15 as the year of the range. Free Panda Antivirus also use the same version number, which justifies the jump from the previous version 3.0.
And Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro Edition?
Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro Edition will be replaced by Panda Antivirus Pro 2015 users of this product will be automatically updated to the new version, and enjoy the new features of Panda Antivirus Pro 2015 with the same protection capacity and lightness to which they were accustomed.
