Hi all, I want to change 360IS for another free product because 360 give me too much FP.

I don't like Avast, and i want to now the better option between the 3 products in the title.

All on Windows 8.1

Free solutions discarted:
360IS & 360 TS: to much FP.
Comodo: slowdown my computer on w8.1, i don't know why, because works great on w7.
Avast!: i dont like it.
AVG: i don't trust it.
Immunet: i like it as companion, not as main AV.

everyone here is bashing down on AVG , when it actually one of the better AV'S out there. everybody is yelling like a headless chicken that its one of the worst , when in most of the cases , those people wo are yelling this actually never tried it. inter the past AVG was not more than average and now it does a way better job in protecting the user. and all this bs about the current gui : beauty is in he eye of the beholder. I quite like it and its NOT my fanboy type of view , after all its not the gui that saves your rearend when you get infected!
exactly what i think avg is not horible

if you are active on torrentsites , pornsites , use cracks / warez than defender is not sufficient. youl need better protection , on the other hand defender integrates well into your operating system , without conflicts. if you have a basic routine during your surfing and use your brain then defender - windows firewall control - unchecky and wot https everywhere- adguard gets you covered. but most mt members prefer a better free or paid solution to give them peace of mind ( count me in on this too ;) )

Uninstall "avira" from control planel leaving "Avira free antivirus" and the stupid menu disappears.

now testing Avira (UI looks like 199x)

For out of the box protection, core features and no upsell, Windows Defender is the right choice. Additionally, you can bolster up your protection by adding Unchecky and HitmanPro.Alert. Using either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome will provide better protection against malicious download.

If you do not use default Windows Update settings, then you will be required to manually update Windows Defender definitions. A method I use to work-around this, by either creating a desktop shortcut, or new task in Task Scheduler.
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate

@RmG152 Avira Online Essentials (or Launcher) can be uninstalled without it affecting the performance or security of Avira Free Antivirus.

Google it. Uninstall via Control Panel.

Affected products: Avira Free Antivirus & Avira Online Essentials.

Alternatively, download Avira without the OE/Launcher:
http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-free-antivirus (~150MB)
http://www.avira.com/en/support-download-avira-free-antivirus/indexl/ (~150MB)

What is Avira Launcher?
http://malwaretips.com/threads/avira-launcher.31440/

As mentioned by one Avira user, they did not want the OE/Launcher and requested their My.Avira account to be deleted.

Creating an Avira account was optional, unless it has changed in the past 6 months.

For this such case go to the suggestions provided by members, Avira Free is one of to be simple in such you don't need actually to configure much to improve protection.

False positives may not be prevented at all antivirus and sometimes not really an option to change another product to others but instead help the team to fix the issues.
