I see a lot of vatniks on Twitter crying about Telegram; they scream "censorship", "free speech". There's just one thing—banning the illegal content isn't censorship. It's just right thing to do. Telegram isn't end-to-end encrypted (only secret chats, according to them), it has basic encryption which means they hold all the keys. Meaning they can see all the content and remove it if it breaks the rules of the platform or law. Telegram didn't do any of that and this is why Durov got into trouble. Have you wondered why is Russian military is in total state of panic, as well as Russian authorities? Russian military uses Telegram for everything, even launching their missiles. They literally call Durov "chief of communications". If French authorities got access to Telegrams encryption keys, they would have access to entire Russian military communication which would be extremely bad.
