The Sodinokibi ransomware group threatens to release hundreds of gigabytes of legal documents from a prominent entertainment and law firm that counts dozens of international stars as their clients.

Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks (GSMLaw) is based in New York and represents dozens of heavyweight artists. Looking at its list of clients, you can spot names that are known all over the world: Madonna, Lady Gaga, Elton John, Robert de Niro, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Usher, U2, Timbaland, Rick Ross, and many others.

Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks Law firm which offers specialized legal services to people involved in the entertainment and media field is in news for becoming a victim of a cyber attack. The New York-based company which offers all kinds of legal professional services to Music, film, television and theater artists seems to have become a victim of a file-encrypting malware where hackers have stolen confidential documents and are threatening to leak those files on the dark web if the victim fails to pay them their demanded ransom.

omG! Well, the ransomware operators stuck gold. No. Platinum. Look at where this law firm is located--in one of the wealthiest, most prime areas in the WORLD. This is the Carnegie Hall Tower in midtown Manhattan, the location of the law firm, it seems.

So, is the firm gonna pay? Let's find out!

So the ransomware dudes want 42 million USD. They struck titanium. And additional blackmail material galore worth another small fortune. Then, I bet there will be lawsuits from various clients who trusted these idiots with their sensitive data.

This is nasty, these crooks aren't playing. Those law dudes are probably in negotiations with them as we speak. Or looking for new office space in a somewhat lower rent district. Both? How the high and mighty can tumble.
