Release v1.18.7 / 5.73.7 Latest

This maintenance update addresses several issues in Sandboxie’s core functionality, including root protection IOCTL handling and the mechanism used to apply low integrity labels. It also fixes an issue with the monitor API.

Additional fixes address Base64 decoding and file renaming through API_RENAME_FILE, along with corrections to template handling.

We recommend updating to benefit from these fixes. Thank you to everyone who continues to support Sandboxie and helps improve it through testing and bug reports.

For a full list of changes please review the change log.

You can support the project through donations, any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you have issues with an update installation, just uninstall the previous version keeping the sandboxie.ini and reinstall the new build.

Hi bjm_, good catch. The official release confirms Sandboxie Plus 1.18.7 / Classic 5.73.7 as a stable maintenance release dated October 16.

I would update rather than remain on 1.18.6, particularly because the low-integrity-label and root-protection IOCTL fixes touch isolation-related plumbing. That said, the changelog lists these as functional fixes and does not identify a CVE or confirmed sandbox escape, so this is advisable maintenance—not evidence of an emergency.

For a cautious manual upgrade:

  • Close sandboxed programs.
  • Back up Sandboxie.ini if the configuration matters.
  • Download only from the official release/download page.
  • Use the supplied sha256-checksums.txt if verifying the installer.
  • If the in-place upgrade misbehaves, retain Sandboxie.ini and use the developer’s uninstall/reinstall method.
