Sandboxie Terminated Ruskie Ransomware

I

illumination

Knowing Gnosis, he probably clicked it on purpose, the whole time sticking his tongue out at the screen, daring it to try, with his best warrior face ;) :D

"I have ABP. I also have NoScript, but I keep it deactivated."
yes i think this was the reason you encounter the pop ups.It is very rare to me to see the pop ups while i deactivated no script on some trusted site like MalwareTips, gmail which i visit regularly. If you are using firefox than you must never disabled Adblock and No script IMHO.

I have ABP on MoFox.
I have NoScript but keep it deactivated most of the time. FireGloves, and HTTPS Everywhere are too intrusive, as is NoScript.

It bears repeating that anyone who runs into malware / ransomware with a browser under the supervision of Sandboxie should merely select the option to "terminate all programs"

Heck with that. I was gonna keep on surfing in my infected sandbox but that darned ole cryptomajiggerransomhair froze MoFox up.

Shadow defender + sandboxie included in Umbra Total Security ^^

Gnosis clicked on the "x" expecting to see a porn clip hahaha

And because of this he disabled adblock to see the popups with hotgirls :p

- SURE, this is our Gnosis fault, not defensive softwares fault.
That's why I don't have Gnosis in my computer ..
Neighter softwares in real time ..

Ni Gnosis, ni softwares.

So I'm without any risks, is not it?..

Another reason to have Sandboxie: your PC just got infected but you are not done checking out hot babes, so you keep surfing in the malware infested sandbox. lol

There were times that I used Sandboxie two or three years back. I had Avira Free Edition at the time. I was on some off-the-wall site and I knew the malware was all around. I was sandboxed so I kept on clicking away. Avira was going nuts every so often as I kept surfing in the infected sandbox. I repeated this behavior several times and NOTHING got past Sandboxie.

That's why I don't have Gnosis in my computer ..
LOL

Surely the popup was not from Bing, it was an infected site that you visited.

I was scrolling Bing images and this black Windows XP-looking rectangle window pops up. I clicked the "x" to close it and then the lockup happened and I saw that typical ransomware page I have seen before. I had not clicked on anything prior to that other than "images" and "search".
It is NOT the first time that I have been surfing Bing images or videos and had some encounters. I had a rogue solicit me with its fake scan, about a year ago, during a Bing excursion. I would have ALT F-4'ed that bugger, but I was Sandboxied anyway.

Malware writers knows that Gnosis is the "Last XPbender" so they all create popups designed to crush his system once for all ^^

I agree that NoScript can be a pain and though I happily used it for years I recently decided to move on from it.
I don't find the combination of HTTPS Everywhere alongside Adblock Plus to be too intrusive and it's very simple to adjust permissions on the fly if and when necessary.

Sandboxie is great. But also not a match for new malware types.
Since the success of Sandboxie and similar programs, malware creators have made a real effort to bypass it, or even turn it against you.
That does not indicate that Sandboxie is bad or fallen out of grace, but it does point out that Sandboxie + your usual security setup is no longer a true layered defense. Some of the newest malware can penetrate virtual boxes just like that.

Hope you are wrong. The whole cyber warfare thing is back-and-forth, back-and-forth, back-and-forth, and always will be, I suppose.

Well given the huge community behind malware creation and the insane business impact, its pretty much losing battle for security firms put a stop to this.
There is so much money behind the malware infrastructures.
On the flip side in the future it will have the security world explode with new companies and technologies due to the very nature of the force driving malware creators.
Simple said its BIG business.
