Btw, I liked how smartly virusattak subtly suggested UAC, but didn't lecture you.
I'll support your common sense too!
Oh, and while we're at it you might set UAC to default, "Notify when programs make changes..", and while your considering choosing UAC (or not) there's also a very effective app (see that big yellow banner below that looks like a kite?) called Sandboxie free:

For Firefox i recommend HTTPS Everywhere extension.
