Linux is secure?
Linux is vulnerable as any other operating system and users must be informed about this.

Security is not a product.
Security is a process.

There is no "security version 1" or "security version 2beta".
There are only systems that applied a certain well defined policy for their use and for the functioning of the internal components.
Freedom wants you can freely modify these processes by users and therefore the price of safety is freedom.
You give up something to get something else.
Already having to enter a password is lack of freedom, but it guarantees a certain level of security.
The underlying problem of why security is also related to the risk of inadvertent mistakes: this is why you should never use an administrative account to log on to the system during daily use.
Rather, when you need it, you should authenticate with the minimum privileges necessary to install a program or driver, possibly within the same session of previous work and soon after losing these rights.

It only seems to be invincible due to very low market share. Criminals want no part in an OS with a very small user based compared to the big beefy market share Windows has. As is said above, all OS are vulnerable. To think otherwise is... unsafe. Don't become a static Linux users. Mac users learned the hard way. So will Linux users. A prepared owner, is a smart owner. Don't believe in misinformation because you are a die hard fan of Linux.

Security is a process like @Klipsh mentioned.

Nothing in this world is secure unless you practice safely with common sense.

Security to hackers is like a puzzle.

Once hackers find the solution to the puzzle.

Everythings is futile at the end.

On this date, Linux holds to be most secure operating system but vulnerabilities are exposed very high unlike to Microsoft due to regular patches maintenance.

Hackers and other malware writers want to go on high demand products which money will revolve as high value and the influence of target audience affects the overall flow of threat landscape.
