They work totally differently. There is a huge Shadow Defender thread on Wilders. I don't worry about it on either one.

Short answer is No. They are very different programs and don't work the same way. Basically all Shadow Defender does is deflect all disk writes to a separate area of the drive outside of windows and on reboot discards them

According to SB's Privacy Concerns running SB(or not) will expose your IP address. So in SD case it protects(anonymizes) your IP address since you said 'No'?

@HarborFront , there are many "loose end" variables in security, and privacy (being able to see one's IP address) is one that is often overlooked, and so remains both a wise and more safely paranoid reality to expect this kind of privacy to be vulnerable even if happen to be protected from infections or changes made to our systems while in Shadow Defender's Shadow mode.
That said, a VPN might be one solution for your concerns.

If you are paranoid about that sort of thing, and since this primarily a concern when there is direct physical access to the system, then encrypt your entire drive (VeraCrypt) and memorize the decryption key. Never write it down and don't use a usb key for access. Use your memory-only. It's all a hassle.

Malware can extract data like Windows logs, plain text passwords in the prefetch, etc. It's possible.
