Privacy Update: Open-source Android app developer, Simple Mobile Tools purchased by Israeli-company ZipoApps

The Google PlayStore page links to zipopps, an Israeli publisher that releases ad-riddled garbage apps.

All the apps are now marked as including ads.

The support email was changed to a @zipoapps.com domain Here's a screenshot PRO versions still display the original email. There's been no activity or communication from the author of Simple Tools on their GitHub or elsewhere.

Is this the end of Simple Mobile Tools? There are two basic possibilities:
  • SMT was indeed bought by ZipoApps
  • Their Google account may have been hacked

  • Users are worried that the acquisition will lead to advertisements on Simple apps and that they’ll no longer remain open source.
