Exactly what @rashmi said. It simply adds some hardening rules e.g. block rules for LOLBins in Windows Firewall. McAfee came pre-installed with Windows. I would never install it willingly. I wonder if RemovaIt doesn't really matter, it's only security centre registration and not actually running or any leftovers apart from some registry entries. Running the removal tool in safe mode failed. I've done a full install of McAfee with trial activated and removed it, that didn't work. Removed every McAfee registry entry, reset security centre and tried to re-register security apps but yeah, none of this worked. Yes, it preserves settings, apps and data.
