The Solus operating system team announced the availability of Solus 4.7 'Endurance' on Sunday, bringing refresh Linux kernels and updated components throughout the different editions of Solus. This version now ships with Linux 6.12.9 by default, which should give you added hardware support. There's also better support for Nvidia cards and improvements to Appstream support in alternative software centers like GNOME Software and KDE Discover, within Solus.

With regards to the Nvidia graphics support, the Solus team says that more graphics cards from Nvidia are supported, including the 4000 series cards which previously had black screen issues when trying to install Solus. It said that the bug has now been sorted.

Solus 4.7 is available with several desktop environments, including its home-grown Budgie, GNOME, Plasma, and Xfce. Out of these, the Xfce release sees the biggest changes because of its inclusion of Xfce 4.20. One of the big, albeit experimental, features in Xfce 4.20 is initial support for Wayland.

I have used Mint, Fedora, Elementary and Zorin , When Solus 4.7 came out I started test driving it on live CD and eventually installed it, I installed Budgie and now I cannot stop using it. I am by no means a Linux master but this OS is a breeze to use and as close to Windows that I have seen (IMO). I am currently dual booting it With Windows 10 Pro 22H2, let me tell you, I thought my Windows 10 system was fast , Solus goes beyond fast, the OS moves like it has a purpose and you don't have to spend half your time in bash or the terminal.
Software is extremely easy to install and for all the Windows software I use I have easily found Linux counterparts that work just as well and in some instances better. For the Windows software that I cannot find Linux counterparts for there is always Bottles or Wine that you can run your Windows software in.

As far as customization goes , on my Windows system I had taken to installing custom themes in order to avoid the butt ugly Windows UI,. With Solus , customization is minimal , other than using dark mode which is easier on my eyes and a custom icon theme , the OS is more aesthetically pleasing than anything Microsoft has ever produced.

This OS is a pleasure to use and I can only see it getting better. Come October when I finally kick Windows to the curb I can honestly say Solus will become my daily driver ..... it practically already is.

I have to say I was a little uneasy about moving away from Windows but after using Solus I can honestly say I am just riding out Windows 10 end of life, I very rarely use Windows anymore and when October comes I will not have an issue reformatting my drive and moving on. I am not going to let Microsoft dictate to me as to what "I have to have" in order to run their OS when it is not really needed. I don't believe in dictatorships.
